Bringing Warmth and Color to Everyday Spaces

Pressed Flower x Graphic Wall Display That Enhances Visitor Experience
|Terrace Mall Matsudo|

Functional zones within commercial complexes—such as shared corridors and smoking rooms—often appear cold and utilitarian, lacking aesthetic value. This can lead to a diminished visitor experience, where transitional spaces feel forgettable. At Terrace Mall Matsudo, a key challenge was to transform such spaces into moments of visual and emotional pause. INCROCCE addressed this by proposing a unique “frame art” concept that combines dried flowers and graphics. The result was a calming, artful intervention that blends harmoniously with the facility’s design narrative while quietly uplifting the user journey.

Property Details and Spatial Concept

The facility’s overarching design theme was “Everyday Life with Color and Comfort.” Even functional areas such as restrooms and smoking lounges were seen as opportunities to spark emotion. INCROCCE aimed to create “aesthetic pause points” using artful decoration that added a gentle layer of emotional texture to the space.

Interior Design Challenges

  • While keeping in line with the commercial setting, ensure the design feels artistic rather than promotional

  • Ensure that the smoking room maintains spatial value despite its utilitarian function

  • Enhance the entrance zone with integrated signage and decoration

  • Maximize limited wall surface to create a visually impactful and emotionally resonant installation

Our Proposal

The core concept was “frame art that evokes quiet delight.” We produced wall-mounted display frames using dried (later partially replaced with faux) flowers and printed seasonal graphics. These framed works created natural moments of pause along otherwise transitional corridors. The design emphasized the blending of artistic abstraction and natural textures, providing a contemplative experience without demanding specific interpretation. The materials were selected and processed to ensure long-term durability in a high-traffic retail environment.

Installation and Technical Execution

Main Corridor Frame Art

Multiple framed artworks were installed in both corridor and smoking room zones.

Materials|Dried and faux flowers, printed graphics, wooden frames
Installation Format|Direct wall mounting
Visual Approach|The pressed-flower-like aesthetic delivered quiet elegance and emotional depth, allowing individual viewers to interpret the displays freely

Entrance Visual Presentation (VP) Decoration
A green wall installation with integrated signage (produced by another vendor) was created for the facility’s main entrance area

Results and Impact

The client praised the project as “a design deeply aligned with the facility’s overall concept, rather than mere decoration.”
The frame artworks were considered high in product quality—suitable for standalone retail.
Though durability concerns initially arose with dried materials, switching some to faux components improved resilience without sacrificing expression.
Visitor feedback included comments like “this hallway has warmth” and “a simple passage has become a place of healing,” with interest emerging in replicating the approach at other facilities or exploring product commercialization.
