Visualizing the Identity of a Garden Section through Display Decor
Driftwood × Letter Sculpture to Delineate Product Boundaries
|Royal Home Center Kawanishi|

In the garden section of home improvement centers, common concerns include the overwhelming number of products that blur together, and decor that feels too sterile. At Royal Home Center Kawanishi, the challenge was to create display elements that clearly set apart decorative space from products—ensuring the display itself made an impression. INCROCCE addressed this with an upcycled-material display that communicates intent: clear, branded, and environmentally conscious.

Property Details and Spatial Concept
The installation focused on the upper visual zone above the garden product section, a highly visible area near the main entrance. The goal was to brand the space not just as a plant-selling corner but as a nature-integrated environment conveying environmental value through aesthetic presence.
Interior Design Challenges
• Products and display elements tended to visually merge, weakening impact
• Need for a presence that stands out in a crowded product area yet remains understated
• Express “natural strength” aligned with the section’s theme
• Maximize impact within spatial constraints through careful material and structural design
Proposed Solution
We took the concept of “natural materials × letter sculpture.” Driftwood, clearly non-product material, was shaped into alphabet letters—like “R” for Royal—to serve as signage-like sculptural display. This clearly marked the installation as décor, strengthened brand identity, and preserved spatial harmony.
Implementation and Construction Details
• Main material: driftwood collected from coastal sources
• Letter sculptures: natural materials combined with metal forming letters such as “R” and “C”
• Installation height: positioned above the product shelves for visibility from a distance
• Construction: lightweight driftwood structures mounted on metal bases for stability and safety — engineered for secure mounting
Each letter was chosen to resonate with the store’s name (e.g., “R” for Royal), ensuring meaningful branding rather than random decoration.
Results and Feedback
The installation created a clear “face” for the garden section by visually separating décor from product displays.
In-house feedback noted, “Using natural materials in the display has enhanced the area’s brand identity.”
The success has led to follow-up requests for similar garden decor and upcycling initiatives at other locations—making this a compelling case study in implementing clear boundaries between decorative elements and product zones.
