Graphic Art That Blends into “Everyone’s Garden”
Wall Illustrations That Bring the Energy of a City Alleyway into the Food Court
|iias Kasugai Food Area|

Food courts in commercial facilities often prioritize turnover and traffic flow, making them prone to generic and impersonal design. At iias Kasugai, however, the entire facility was rebranded under the concept of “Everyone’s Garden Kasugai.” The food court was expected to carry this theme forward, while also evoking the energy and atmosphere of a lively industrial-style alley. INCROCCE was brought in to transform bare walls and transitional areas into a dynamic part of the experience through graphic wall art—blending storytelling with visual appeal.

Property Details and Spatial Concept
The overarching theme of the facility—“Everyone’s Garden Kasugai”—inspired a nature-forward, welcoming identity. Within this framework, the food court was designed to resemble a small city street lined with industrial-style restaurants. It was meant to be more than just a dining area: a place you might wander into on a stroll, full of movement, discovery, and casual charm.
Interior Design Challenges
How to visually enrich the “in-between” spaces like corridors and waiting zones among shopfronts
Finding the right balance in graphic intensity: bold industrial art could be too noisy, but subtle graphics might fade into the background
Integrating the facility-wide “soft and natural” garden concept with the energy typical of a food court
Our Proposal
We proposed extensive wall graphics throughout the food court, designed to evoke the feeling of a bustling alley. Rough brushstrokes and layered textures gave the artwork the look of an aged mural—evoking a sense of urban charm and unpredictability.
To maintain alignment with the “Everyone’s Garden” theme, we incorporated botanical and greenery motifs into the illustrations. Color tones were coordinated with surrounding storefronts and lighting to ensure cohesion throughout the space.
Installation and Technical Execution
Technique|Direct wall painting using durable, waterproof specialty paints
Design Language|Industrial-style street motifs blended with plants and flowers
Zoning Strategy|Graphics were varied in intensity depending on location, guiding the viewer’s eye from the food court’s rear toward adjacent corridors
Maintenance|Designed for easy touch-up and partial repainting as needed
Results and Impact
Facility managers praised the transformation, stating that the food court became “a space to stroll and enjoy, not just to sit and eat.”
Visitors responded positively, noting that the graphics made “waiting time more fun” and offered “photo opportunities for families and kids.”
The success of this project led to additional requests for graphic design in other parts of the facility—creating ripple effects beyond the original scope.
